2006 - 2009

In July 2006 Archbishop Bathersby launched the Brisbane Archdiocese journey towards World Youth Day 2008 at the Brisbane Convention Centre. As part of this launch he outlined that the Archdiocese would have a ‘Strategic Focus on Ministry with Young People’ between 2006 and 2009 to utilise the energy and enthusiasm generated by World Youth Day.

The ‘Strategic Focus on Ministry with Young People’ is underpinned by the Archdiocesan framework ‘Ministry with Young People: a dynamic framework’. It calls those engaged in ministry with young people to look at existing and possible new ways to:

INVITE: helping young people to CONNECT with the message of Jesus (evangelisation)
FORM: helping young people to GROW in their knowledge and faith (catechesis)
CHALLENGE: helping young people to CHOOSE to respond to the call of the Gospel (life discernment)
SEND: helping young people to GO out to others with a sense of purpose and mission (mission)

The strategic focus has already seen various new resources and initiatives developed for the Archdiocese. In the light of World Youth Day, many communities have developed new groups, liturgies and outreach programs all aimed at involving young people. Vocations Office
The Vocations Office seeks to help young people understand and experience the relevance and importance of God’s call in their life and the impact they can have in today’s world. If your young people have questions about God’s call on their life, the vocations of Marriage, Priesthood, Consecrated life or Single life, the Vocations Office is available to run retreats seminars and evenings for school or parish.
