Pray2010's waves ripple across the church in Australia and beyond
Archbishop Bathersby has expressed his overwhelming joy at the success of Pray2010, with 2700 participants coming from around Australia and the world to focus on the treasurehouse of prayers and spirituality found within the Catholic tradition. St Stephen's Chapel turns 160 Queensland's first church, and the oldest still standing, turned 160 on May 12. St Stephen's Chapel, found at the Cathedral precinct in the heart of Brisbane, had its first Mass celebrated on that date in 1850 by Fr James Hanly. The Chapel is still very much a part of Archdiocesan life in 2010, with many Masses and weddings celebrated there.

Archbishop to lead pilgrimage to Rome for Blessed Mary MacKillop's Canonisation
Brisbane archdiocese has greeted the news of the canonisation of Blessed Mary MacKillop in October by planning a number of events both here and in Rome. One key event will see Archbishop John Bathersby lead an Archdiocesan pilgrimage to Rome for the canonisation on October 17th.
