Pray2010's waves ripple across the church in Australia and beyondPerson in Prayer
Archbishop Bathersby has expressed his overwhelming joy at the success of Pray2010, with 2700 participants coming from around Australia and the world to focus on the treasurehouse of prayers and spirituality found within the Catholic tradition. Audio CD's of the 36 keynote speeches will be ready to access at the "Online Shop" at http://bne.catholic.net.au/faithlife/ from Saturday 17 July.

St Stephen's Chapel turns 160

St Stephen's Chapel Queensland's first church, and the oldest still standing, turned 160 on May 12. St Stephen's Chapel, found at the Cathedral precinct in the heart of Brisbane, had its first Mass celebrated on that date in 1850 by Fr James Hanly. The Chapel is still very much a part of Archdiocesan life in 2010, with many Masses and weddings celebrated there.

Archbishop to lead pilgrimage to Rome for Blessed Mary MacKillop's Canonisation

Blessed Mary MacKillop

Brisbane archdiocese has greeted the news of the canonisation of Blessed Mary MacKillop in October by planning a number of events both here and in Rome. One key event will see Archbishop John Bathersby lead an Archdiocesan pilgrimage to Rome for the canonisation on October 17th.

7-10 July: Pray 2010Pray 2010 Logo

Pray 2010 will be a major gathering of people from across Australia and beyond seeking to encourage participants to deepen their relationship with Jesus through prayer; provide practical teaching and experiences of different prayer forms; offer experiences of communal prayer, especially praying the liturgy, that strengthen the bonds of communion; and highlight the power of prayer in equipping Catholics for their mission to bring Christ into our world.

11 July: RIVER JORDAN 20ten YOUTH EVENT 

A dynamic Christian youth event consisting of a performing arts concert by local Christian talents followed by a 2hr praise and worship (night rally) led by the CFC United band.

31 July - 1 August: 2010 Stewardship Institute 

The Archdiocese of Brisbane will host the 2010 Stewardship Institute. This Institute is coordinated by the Australian and New Zealand Stewardship Network which has invited Mr Tracy Welliver from Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, to be the guest presenter.
