The Catholic Leader is the masthead of the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

It is Australia’s longest serving Catholic newspaper, having been published in Brisbane since 1929. It’s forebear The Age began in 1892.

The current editor of The Catholic Leader is Mr Peter Bugden who was appointed in October 2007. He succeeded Mr Marcus Kuczynski in the role, who edited the paper from 1997.

The paper’s current circulation is 12,500 copies per week, being sold primarily throughout south-east Queensland and the four regional Queensland dioceses’ but also at selected interstate parishes.

The paper has been a four-time winner of Bishop Phillip Kennedy Memorial Prize for Australasia’s best Catholic newspaper.
