Let Your Light Shine sets out the vision, priorities, common spirituality, planning
approach and review steps of the Archdiocese in the active pursuit of its
mission.
It provides a broad strategic framework for the preparation of pastoral plans
by major archdiocesan sectors and groups.
It is a common point of reference for all who are invited by the Archbishop
to participate in the life and mission of this local Church.
Let Your Light Shine will evolve as pastoral leaders dialogue together and
develop their plans. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the
archdiocesan website where plans, strategies and resources can be shared.
Why now?
The catalyst for Let Your Light Shine was the need to develop a shared approach
to implementing the archdiocesan vision and nine priorities flowing from the Synod Promulgation in July 2003. The Synod journey itself culminated
in a growing consciousness of the need to be a more evangelising diocese.
Who is Let Your Light Shine for?
Let Your Light Shine is primarily for the leaders of parish and school
communities, deaneries, renewal groups and lay associations, archdiocesan
bodies, Catholic tertiary institutions, healthcare and aged care facilities,
indigenous and ethnic communities, religious institutes and church agencies.
What does Let Your Light Shine ask of pastoral leaders?
Pastoral leaders are asked to develop their plans and projects in the light of
the archdiocesan vision and priorities, and to review the progress of
implementation.
What is the implementation timeframe?
Let Your Light Shine will be implemented from 2004 – 2011.
An archdiocesan review of progress will take place in 2008.
