| Promulgation initiatives |
On 27 July 2003 Archbishop John Bathersby, after careful consideration
of the recommendations presented to him by the Synod Assembly
on 4 May 2003, announced implementation measures that he was
initiating or calling for. The summary and full text of his
address is on www.bne.catholic.net.au/lyls. Some of the highlights
are:
|
- The preparation of this vision, priorities and planning
document as the vehicle to guide the implementation of the Jesus
Communion Mission vision and the nine archdiocesan priorities.
- The redirection of substantial archdiocesan funds for up to five
years to assist parishes and deaneries to implement the archdiocesan
vision and priorities promulgated as a result of Synod.
- Representative gathering of key people in the Archdiocese in 2008
to review progress on implementation of archdiocesan vision and
priorities.
- Each parish/deanery to develop a plan to address the Jesus Communion
Mission vision and the archdiocesan priorities.
- Refocusing the structures and energies of archdiocesan bodies and
agencies on implementation of Synod priorities, particularly
in support of parishes and deaneries.
- Archdiocesan support for a number of specific initiatives related
to each of the Synod priorities eg visiting speakers on particular
topics, formation programs, small group discussion resources,
appointment of staff in key roles, preparation for and implementation of new
pastoral leadership roles.
- Archbishop’s challenge that the vision and priorities are
for everyone and every group, all of whom must ask: how can I,
how can we act on these in our own circumstances, using the strategies
in the Broad Action Proposals as a starting point?
