Archdiocesan
Pastoral Council
The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council (APC), in its task of assisting the Archbishop, will support parishes/deaneries and other bodies with implementation and review measures.
The members of the APC will be active in discussing implementation issues with and listening to key people in the areas from which they were selected for membership.
Over a period of time the APC intends to build a picture of how the Archdiocese is progressing with implementation, identify strengths and gaps, communicate and network widely about what is emerging, and initiate ways for learning from each other’s strengths and addressing the gaps.

| Review |
A plan of action is often only as effective as the processes of implementation,
monitoring and review that support it.
It is therefore proposed that Let Your Light Shine be supported by
a cycle of implementation and review, overseen by the Archbishop
and Council of Priests and led by the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council
working with other bodies as appropriate.
Key Date - 2011
While the Synod was directed towards planting seeds for the continuing
growth of a vibrant local Church for the new millennium, 2011 is
the expected retirement date of Archbishop John Bathersby. It is
therefore an appropriate deadline for the achievement of major goals,
and a significant time for reflecting on progress.
Major Review - 2008
The Archbishop has proposed that, in relation to the implementation
of the archdiocesan vision and priorities, a gathering of representatives
from around the Archdiocese is held in 2008 to review progress, acknowledge
achievements and recommend adjustments to implementation.
Responsibility for the organisation of the review will rest with
the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, under the oversight of the Archbishop
and Council of Priests.
Ongoing Review
Within the principle of ‘flexibility with responsibility’ it
is proposed that each body in the Archdiocese monitor its progress
regularly and make adaptations when warranted.
A two-step process of review is proposed:
- Complete a self-evaluation questionnaire for own use, reflection
and action each year.

- Report to the Archbishop and Council of Priests through the
APC in 2005 and 2007 on the implementation of the Jesus Communion
Mission vision and the nine archdiocesan priorities.
It is further envisaged that those with significant pastoral and
organisational responsibilities would discuss current plans with
other leaders within their communities and/or organisations as a
part of regular, ongoing support, communication and accountability.
