QCDYC CONTACTS

The Queensland Catholic Diocesan Youth Co-ordinators (QCDYC) have been gathering since 1983. From this time the Bishop’s appointee as Co-ordinator of the youth apostolate in each diocese have gathered to discuss matters of mutual interest and concern, to share ideas and resources and to co-ordinate actions where appropriate.

In addition to these initial aims they are also committed to promoting effective communication between youth ministry offices, to act as an advocate for the place of young people and youth ministry within Church structures and to foster a co-operative approach amongst youth ministry offices.

The members of QCDYC gather two times per year. One of these gatherings coincides with the Queensland Catholic Bishops Conference at which a report from QCDYC is presented and relevant issues are discussed.

QCDYC have initiated projects including promotional campaigns such as ‘Young People Welcome Here’ and ‘Alive & Well – Young People in the Catholic Church’. No doubt the most successful initiative has been the ‘Movers & Shakers – Christian Youth Leadership Training Program’.
